Mobile Java (J2ME) Software Developer

Skills & Attributes Required:

• excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills -English language
  
• ability to code software according to published standards and design guidelines
  
• ability to communicate technical concepts and issues to the business in a clear and concise manner
  

Experience:

• demonstrable commercial Java software development experience (Java 5/6)
  
• 3 or more years commercial experience developing Mobile Java applications; games specifically. [MIDP 2.0]
  
• developing mobile applications including touch functionality for the leading mobile handset manufacturers - Nokia, SonyEricsson, Samsung, LG, Motorola, Blackberry, etc. Development for the iPhone would be advantageous
  
• writing test harnesses using test tools for unit and component testing (e.g. JUnit, etc.)
  
• Networking / Communication and deep analysis and understanding of communication stack issues
  
• working with subversion (or other concurrent version control system). An understanding of why version control is important in development. Additionally understand how and when to branch, tag and merge the code base
  
• writing, improving and debugging complex Apache ANT build files; including experience of using Antenna for J2ME (http://antenna.sourceforge.net/)
  
• working with Bamboo Continuous Integration server for automatically compiling and testing code as the code base changes (or a similar tool)
  
• identifying & resolving defective software (bug fixing)
  
• ability to prototype an idea and demonstrate its benefits and take the prototype and build upon it to deliver a piece of software it to an operational status
